Being in the same building allows for consensus building. If legislators are in their home district that will be hard to pull off - and you might see a lot of intransigence.

A lot of the deal making in congress happens because people want to leave their and go home and want to get stuff over with and done. It figures a Republican wants this.

Since they are already not doing their job while they are there I’m not sure what difference this would make. It does seem like a perk or convenience for congress critters at probable huge Taxpayer expense (the Uber secure Tele-presence and conferencing infrastructure that congress would need would not come cheap.)

Why would you make an assumption that an “uber-secure” solution would be required? In fact, I would imagine that a transparent solution with low-cost teleconferencing infrastructure at their local office conference room would be a requirement. It would offer a level of transparency to constituents. Local constituents that do not make trips to the DC viewing balcony can see their rep up close and personal in a local conference room. I see this as an act that promotes democracy and dialog. Do you honestly expect that this telecommuting would be extended to sessions involving national security?
