The USA, by not directing her free market economy like Germany has has pretty much damaged her economy maybe beyond repair.

Germany does all it can to maintain Germany manufacturing industries, etc and to funnel labor into vocational training. This is social market economic where the state manages capitalism up to a point.

The American post Reagan hands off and let the market fix it ideology has proven to be a failure for the vast majority of Americans.

I think the Obama re-election means that a segment of the old “Reagan Democrats” that bought into the voodoo economics of the GOP have started to realize that. Even those online on the right wing forums are starting to sort of realize this but can’t figure out how to switch over because of party orthodoxy. If you visit these right wing forums you hear talk about how Wall Street is controlled by oligarchs, etc - stuff you would expect to hear from a leftist but they are saying it on right wing forums - they just don’t know how else to explain how Reganomics failed them when they accepted it as gospel.

I must be going to the wrong forums, because all of the ones I look out say it’s (as in everything wrong in the world) Obama’s fault. It’s a comforting philosophy, since it requires no thought or thinking ability at all to believe it.

If I were a young man these days I wouldn’t give college a second look. Rack up a huge debt so I can be underemployed when I get out, or have to compete with cheap to employ H1-B visa holders or offshoring?

Screw that. I’d go for something that can’t be offshored, pays well, is portable, and will always be in demand. In other words, I’d learn a trade.

Unless you have the chops to be at the top of the top of the education heap, these days college is just another 4-5-6 years expensive trip down the tubes while you put off the inevitable.

This issue will not be resolved anytime soon by the corporate puppets currently in charge of this country. If you are a young person learn a trade and make mucho dinero before your friends even graduate college. High pay for plumbers, electricians, journeyman carpenters, welders, mechanics. If you are creative build custom things (cars, motorcycles, instruments, games, clothes). Big market for that stuff. Just don’t expect any help from these politicians you will absolutely not get any.

re: #2 Skip Intro

I will make sure I find the comments regarding right wing forums and their disillusionment with capitalism (or the Obama capitalism).

Eventually, we the taxpayers will be liable for a trillion dollars in student loan forgiveness….

I don’t know what the answer is.
