A fucking committee chairman. Seriously GOP grow the fuck up. Even if you believe in the Biblical great flood, using that to justify inaction on climate change is pathetic.

The whole “Keystone” political football is so deviously sold.

It’s wrong I know, but sometimes a feel an impulse to lapse into pidgin English when I’m talking to these people.
“Me big scientist, come big village. Look at rocks. You help. Rocks bring money your village.”

I will be so happy when Mr. Cork retires and we can leave this crazy lone star state.

So, being originally from the South I can truly say that, debating whether the Bible is literally true and if those “truths” have any relevance to the real world is still actually consider a serious point for debate. Just like Rand Paul goes to Howard and wants to discuss the history of racism and politics in the US and skip over the last 50 years or so these guys want to seriously talk about reality and skip stuff like the last 2500 years of the history of science. Right past stuff like it was known that the Earth was round 500 BC and the only debate was was the size of the circumference, past the Renaissance, Enlightenment etc etc and debate the miracles described in the Bible as physically able to happen.

The problem is that they do truly live in a bubble where they only really debate things like this with each other and dealing with reality and having to discuss it with anyone else is a distraction to be avoided. And, because of where and how they live they get along just fine. No matter, as I have pointed out to them many times before, that things that they depend upon everyday, prove that miracles in the Bible, like the Great Flood didn’t happen; cars use internal combustion engines, understanding those requires the use of Thermodynamics and that says that the Great Flood couldn’t have happened as described. But that, along with modern medicine etc are all up for debate as long as they are concerned because if they are not, then everything else that they believe in is wrong. And for them, that is worst that being wrong about everything else.

Of course, this is confined to the South but it is very prevalent there. And for that, I am embarrassed.
