Everyone should make a living will. It should be part of our annual tax forms or some such like voter registration.

And don’t just have it on file with your doctor. Have an easily accessible copy or two. Staple it to your chest when taken to the hospital…

This is something that shouldn’t happen in our society. We’re better than this crap.

He had all that paperwork. The nurse refused to look it up.

Precisely-the partner should have had a copy in his hand. Not always easy to remember to do, so of course I’m not faulting him. The nurse should be suspended.

Hospitals in some areas just refuse to honer the paperwork no matter how many times you staple it to your chest. If you live, it is up to you to sue them afterwards, but they can and do ignore your wishes in the meantime.

Half of us aren’t.

I am going to go out in a limb here, but I am going to bet that a little research into the Nurses background would show that she is against marriage equality due to religious reasons. I also see that if she’s disciplined on it, there will suddenly be a religious objection made about the relationship by her, and some group like the Thomas More group is going to jump to her defense.

I really hope that I’m wrong, and she was just overworked and frazzled, but deep inside I don’t think I’m too far off the mark.

Your religious rights end where my personal and legal rights begin.

They’d just ignore it, they way they ignored power of attorney here.

Gay marriage needs to be legalized, and not as a separate but equal institution. That is the only solution.
