Watch this woman’s face shapeshift with a simple trick of the light
It is very interesting to see how simple shifts in lighting greatly effect our perception of a human face. An analogous effort is underway within the Republican Party leadership with their recently launched and much discussed “Party re-branding efforts”. In their statements, they make the point that it isn’t about policy (reality) but perception (optics). So, if they just “change the lighting” we will then “see” a new face.
I think that many of us are interested in how this effort is failing and following the reasons why. Here are a few examples:
1) Changing what is said by the Republicans in the Party and what they do is not as easily done as changing the lighting is in this example.
2) As in this example, no matter how one changes the light, the underlying face is the same.
3) Also as in this example, it is hard for the subject to which it is being applied, to “keep a straight face”!
