I’m fairly certain they’re already being profiled, just not officially.

Joe Walsh thinks that profiling is something painful. He’s not sure what, but it’s worse than paying child support.

I’d like to profile Teabagger Republicans who think arming the entire country is the solution to everything.

Isn’t it sad that regardless of whether he believes this nonsense, he actually sees this type of overt hate as a pathway to riches and maybe even political power.
Wingnut welfare at it’s most sad.

It’s a positive for we liberals though - and the Democratic Party. And therefore, a positive thing for Americans.
The more Americans see republicans being honest about their beliefs(the majority of republican politicians no doubt agree with Joe Walsh on just about every political thing he has ever said, but are too cowardly to come out and say it) the more they will be punished at the polls.

If only voters could also see that one of America’s greatest, slowest (relatively) moving tragedies, is right wing economic theory.

Profiling in the sense of Israeli airport security, i.e. smart profiling makes sense. the passenger-oriented security system more focused on the ‘human factor’, based on the assumption that terrorist attacks are carried out by people who can be found and have been stopped through the use of this simple but effective security methodology.
Though, I should say that what this man is calling for is anti-immigration based, and not really anything about security.

What a schmuck.

Profiling is usefull .Any who has ever flown EL-AL will tell you . They have an extensive system and science to it . If they dont like you , you simply dont fly . There is extensivec questioning and requestioning . BEFORE 9/11 you were asked to be at the airport and at their counter atleast 2 hrs. begore the flight . El-Al personell are both the security and flight attendents for that flight . They profile by Physical appearence , and through psychological aspects they percieve during questioning . I am olive skin/dark hair and having facial hair , I was stopped as soon as I walked in the door to the terminal . El-Al’s record speaks for itself as to the effectiveness of non-PC profiling . And as for the passengers - NO ONE COMPLAINS.
In my opinion Walsh is a phony teebag pos , but profiling today , is a necessarry reality , a fact of life .

What does it take to be rid of this man? A stake through the heart?

/I’m kidding, I don’t want Walsh hurt. But I’d like it if he was off the air and thus less able to loft these public stink bombs.

How exactly does one profile Muslims? As Conservatives are fond of telling us, Muslims are a religion, not a race. Or do we pay special attention to people who ‘look’ Muslim? I’m actually cool with it, as long as people who look like the people responsible for Boston attacks…

re: #9 Kruk

I’d say they’ll be keen on most;y banning those from Muslim countries(except the Bin Ladens, of course!), target mosques in the U.S. aggressively, and set up a data base: anyone suspected of being a Muslim will have a file started.
This kind of thing has always given the right wing a stiffy. They’ve been doing it since the 1950s.

I guess we should have profiled white guys after OKC right, Joe? Seriously, funny how these calls only happen if the perp is of a minority group.

I’ve read about the Israeli methods used by El Al, but I don’t see it as viable in the U.S.

How many airports does Israel have? How many does the U.S. have? Israel is a nation of approximately 8 million people, the U.S. 315 million—how many people people would need to be processed every day in the U.S. vs the numbers being processed in Israel?

And that only covers airports. What about all the other public places & events? How many people would have to receive specialized training, and how much would it cost to train them all?

Have you been to Manhattan during the morning or evening rush hour, or during lunch time? It’s like someone kicked an ant bed with all the people swarming about—it would take an army just to watch Manhattan alone, and someone could still slip through the cracks.

Logistically, I don’t see how the Israeli model could possibly work here.

First of all, how many airports does Israel have? How many does the U.S. have? Israel is a nation of approximately 8 million people, the U.S. 315 million—how many people people would need to be processed every day in the U.S. vs the numbers being processed in Israel?

Israel not only profiles at its own airports (really only one major airport in the country, others are military or small private landing strips) but at all airports that have flights into and out of Israel.

Other carriers, in addition to El Al, flying into and out of Israel must also adhere to these protocols.

It is an exhaustive process which is simply not feasible in the U.S. there is no way to accommodate the huge volume of travellers, compared to the numbers that visit Israel.

re: #13 Vicious Babushka

I’d totally forgotten that the procedures also apply to other countries’ airports with Israel-bound flights. The U.S. probably has hundreds of international flights coming in to various airports every day.

World’s Top 50 Busiest Airports by Passenger Traffic.

Israel’s Ben-Gurion is not even on the list.
