Bad translation, people. He didn’t say “cause earthquakes”.

He said “make the world move”.

Thank you, I’ll be here all week. Do try the veal!

No different than Pat Robertson blaming the Haitian earthquake on voodoo. This shit makes me ill.

No different than Pat Robertson blaming the Haitian earthquake on voodoo. This shit makes me ill.

Or Falwell blaming the 9/11 attacks on pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays & lesbians, and the ACLU. Or Hagee blaming Katrina on New Orleans supposed licentiousness and a gay pride parade. It’s all the same hateful fundie B.S.

I don’t know kids, there might be something to this. The other day it was 66 degrees in NW Iowa, and I wore sandals to the store. We’re talking naked, naked toes here. The next day it snowed. OK, it was only half an inch, and it was all gone by that afternoon, but STILL! What if I’d been wearing capris?

“Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes,” Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi, a senior Iranian cleric and seismologist, was quoted by Iranian media.

Man, what is it with guys being so weak as to be led around by their dicks all the time? All the time, it’s women’s fault because guys just can’t help it.

I’d mark sarcasm but you see this kind of thinking too. Damn. Often. And I’m so tired of it.

re: #13 klys

I do feel compelled to note that I don’t think this way. But that’s the end result of what they’re saying every time, as in why they have to regulate women because it’s apparently easier than regulating their own bodies, urges, and impulses.

You can come up with the same type of quote from evangelical Christian figures in the US relating to gays and [insert natural/manmade disaster here]. So …no.

I can’t come up with an entire country that makes its women cover from head to toe in the name of any other cult, so ….no. Everything that makes Christianity backward makes Islam even more backward. Please get this silly and well-intentioned (but failed) idea that all major religions are equal out of your head - they’re simply not.

re: #16 SidewaysQuark

Once you stop judging the religions by the actions of their extremists, sure.

18 SidewaysQuark  Tue, Apr 23, 2013 7:56:04pm

Oh noez the downding fairy from naive hypocrites got me for being honest and obvious - whatever will I do (LOL)?

re: #17 klys

Extremists seem to have a lot more power in Islam than any other cult, so yes, they (as a whole) deserve the criticism until they clean house. People who give any cult a free pass for enabling their extremists (who in this case dominate entire nations) is naive.

I pity the moderate Muslim minorities ( mostly in the West ) who abhor this nonsense. Of course, this is why I left the sky fairy cults in the first place. If only more would do the same….

You seem to be an authority on dicks. I will defer that to you from now on.

This kind of atheism?

Just as obnoxious as the Christian evangelists. Who yes, I found just as obnoxious when I was, in fact, a Christian.

That sounds like a personal problem. Honesty has historically not been popular. (Funny you label me an atheist, perhaps you should check your own prejudice?) in the meantime, you might wish to discuss your issues with my honesty with your therapist.
