Will Fox team him up with Hannity “for balance”?

Or with O’Riley?

Great News! That is something that should be fun to watch.

O’Reilly would be perfect. He could spend every episode telling Tyson nobody can explain the tides.

If it’s half as good as Carl Sagan’s original it will be awesome. Given today’s tech and how good Tyson is at TV science I would expect it to be a pretty good series that will be watched on youtube and sold in Blu-Ray for a couple of generations.

If it’s made as a bit copy of the original, i’ts doomed. It needs to be brought up to date (the original is 30 years old!), injected with the latest science, and no pandering to the lowest common denominator viewer. And don’t include any of the Fox flavor-of-the-month TV “stars” brought in for that very special episode.

Unfortunately, this is Fox so I expect every one of my suggestions totally ignored.

I just devoured the original COSMOS series. Carl Sagan’s childlike wonder and enthusiasm, his easy-listening voice, the atmospheric opening and closing credits with the music being some of Vangelis’ very best work, the dandelion “ship of the imagination”…absolutely everything about this series was perfect. I kind of thought of Stephen Hawking’s recent show as a new COSMOS, but Hawking, bless him, is no Carl Sagan as far as being a showman of science goes. Maybe Tyson will do better.

I’ve been excited about this ever since I heard about it a quite a while back. I think NdT will be perfect for it, he has a true love of sharing science, a wonderful way of drawing his audience in to share his excitement and wonder, and it just seems like he LOVES sharing knowledge with others.

RBS
Who Yes, probably does have a bro-crush on NdT.
