There was this time I tried to read Dianetics, out of sheer curiosity, because I knew it’s origins derived from L. Ron Hubbard’s interaction with Jack Parsons, who was Aleister Crowley’s hand-picked head of Ordo Templi Orientis in California (The occult is a pet interest of mine).
Far from merely being informative, its brainwashing techniques were quite obvious to me, and I didn’t get further than 30-40 pages before it was doused in lighter fluid and sacrificed for the greater good on my charcoal grill outside.
Far more subtle, and exponentially more insidious, is what News Corp has wrought on our existence. You can down-ding me into oblivion for saying this, but I’d shed no tears if black helicopters full of shock-troops held Bin Laden-like raids on every broadcast studio, office complex and the compounds of its board members.

This makes me a little curious about what’s in the book. Not quite enough to actually buy it and read it, but curious nonetheless.

The thing about that is that it would just feed the paranoid conspiracy even more. You think it’s bad now? Just wait until one conspiracy comes true. The way it is now, at least it’s somewhat manageable.
