I take it that’s Phyillis Schalfry on top. Seriously she was old-fashioned when my parents were college aged 35-40 years ago. The problem Republicans have with younger voters is social and economic as the article says. We don’t like their rigid social conservatism and we don’t like their equally rigid approach to the economy either. Of course, they hear that and think we’re asking for socialism. We’re not but we want a reasonable government that respects civil rights regardless of orientation, race, etc and a government that is willing to do things like make student loans more affordable.

Here’s another crazy who manages to stay below the radar, most of the time.

Some examples.

In early 2009 she said that Matthew Shepard was killed in a robbery, not because he was gay.

She has also said that universal health care is more threatening than “any terrorist right now in any country,” that [Americans seniors will be] put to death by their government, and that “there are no Americans who don’t have health care.”

She has also claimed that the Republican Party passed the Civil Rights Act, with almost no help from the Democratic Party

More recently, Representative Foxx said that she had no tolerance for those with student loans.

She’s from one of the Carolinas, of course, although she’d also fit in well in Tennessee or Louisiana or Mississippi or Texas or Florida.

I’ve heard of her. Yikes. I had forgotten about her remarks about health care. I do remember the ones about Matthew Shepperd since they were made in front of the man’s mother.

I’v noticed that yet again, their survey reveals nothing to them. Once again, they consider all this negativity to be “mischaracterizations”, and the like. And that all they need to do is get those rogue republican leaders to stop being honest about their and their party’s view of the world, the people in it, and the policies they advocate.
No, their takeaway is that all they need to do is change the talking points. They only have an image problem. Apparently they see nothing wrong with their actual policies. I find it hard to believe that a proper survey wouldn’t discover this.
But given who carried out the surveys, I’m sure they weren’t actually asking about policy.
The many layers of political correctness that has infected the republican party is the rot that will continue to weaken them - and make them more extreme.
America desperately needs a proper opposition party. The two party system, as it stands, is dead.
These idiots seriously believe that freedom means destroying the nation’s institutions - because, as with all other forms the study of real world, the history of democracy never happened.
They want a return to a feudal system. They want the wealthy to determine the future of the rest of the population. This will inevitably mean massive destabilization, massive child mortality, very low levels of education, a workforce that is competitive with the poorest, most exploited nations, and essentially the collapse of the United Stats. Which suits the wealthy just fine.
But no, all they need to do is change their talking Points. Their model is, most likely, people like Paul Ryan. He said the right things - that’s why the American people trust him so much.
