Republican on Endangered Species: Just Let Nature Take Care of Itself
Representative Raul Labrador (R-ID) suggested that the government should take no action to protect endangered species from extinction at a House hearing on Tuesday
During the hearing, University of Central Florida biology professor Reed Noss informed the House Natural Resources Committee that the United States Fish and Wildlife Service lacked the funding to adequately protect animals on the endangered species list. The federal agency is tasked with “recovering” animals by increasing their numbers.
“Could the answer just be that nature takes care of itself, that maybe we don’t know more than nature does?” Labrador responded.
