Sane small-government, corporate friendly types have already left the GOP, for the most part. They are now Democrats.

EPR-radar - amen brother. I am one of them. My wife refers to me as an, “Obama Republican”. The problem is with the “corporate friendly” part. My feeling is that they have a part to play in a modern economy, just like labor unions, but the pendulum has swung way to far to their favor and now they are a net negative to the economy. The pendulum for corporations needs to swing back towards the center. The same goes for labor unions but in the opposite direction. It could be honestly argued that in the 60’s and 70’s that it was true that the pendulum in favor of unionism had swung to far in their favor but with globalization and other forces eroding them and the rise of transnational corporations in the last 20 years we need more influence from them.

I dislike all concentrations of power, both in the private sector and in the public sector. It is certainly possible for unions to get out of control, but we aren’t seeing that in the present-day US. Instead, big business interests are just about to take over completely.

As one small example of this, does anyone really think the copyright on Mickey Mouse will be allowed to expire?
