(VIDEO) Maine GOP Leader Boasts That His ‘Man’s Brain’ Makes Him Think More Rationally About Costs

A top Maine Republican took to the House floor Wednesday to explain how his “man’s brain” can’t get behind Obamacare’s federal funding for Medicaid expansion because he is concerned about costs. House Minority Leader Ken Fredette (R-ME) invoked the classic gender-stereotyping book, Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus to explain how he is struggling to reconcile his rational male consideration of costs with Democrats’ apparently female desire for free things.

As my favourite author points out, it’s women that are the more rational and practical gender.

His reason why? Because for most of their lives women have to deal with blood pouring from their bodies one week out of every four for most of their lives. So they learn to deal with things.

Men only deal with blood in highly romanticized forms of violence like war and sport. Which makes them the irrational, romantic gender.

I think he’s making an interesting point that I tend to agree with.

I know this much. It’s thanks to people like Kenneth Fredette that I tend to loathe my gender. Testosterone addled jackasses for the most part.

This is simply a more specific form of the “47%/makers versus takers/shirkers versus strivers” rhetoric you hear frequently from Conservatives. Their self image is wrapped up in being the ones ‘holding the line’ against a world full of moochers.
