Classic glibertarian nonsense: childish sneering, cherry picking, and pretend that the facts don’t matter. There was a server involved! Therefore Greenwald was honest and correct!

Unbelievable.
Actually, sadly very believable. These faux-glibertarians, most of the known names being funded by the likes of Koch Industries and other heavy polluters, like to pretend that they’re all about freedom and honesty. And brave truth telling, and all the necessary victim/martyr connotations that their fantasies tell them apply to them.
They lack the self awareness necessary to recognize that only people who ‘think’ exactly the way they do, will ever be convinced of any argument they make. Because by and large, their entire stated agenda is dishonest.

This front of the PR war against Greenwald, the Guardian, and Snowden is using a tactic familiar to anyone who remembers the financial crisis: that the story is a technology story, ergo, only technologists are qualified to opine on it.

A sad bunch of BS that paragraph, they sound like the words of what I like to call a “Google Expert”. Ever noticed on forums and social media etc that there are many people who have no expertise on a subject at all, yet argue endlessly about the subject. Perhaps the most obvious example is climate change. Even the most poorly informed monkey has what they consider to be a factually based opinion. Google can lead you places, but doesn’t define fact from fiction.

But to the point, when technology is involved, understanding the differences in terminology and what they actually mean, is quite important. Too often we see journalists who are either a little too ignorant of the technical side of things or are grandstanding, they try to make the evidence support their chosen narrative.

So far, I’ve seen nothing of particular interest (disclosures and in the technical sense) in this whole dirty little affair.

My opinion of Snowden is that he is a vainglorious attention whore. He is no whistle-blower. Greenwald is just another self aggrandizing weasel pretending to be a journalist.

Actually Yves is more on the left, but has a background in financial services. I stopped reading her when she started edging toward the left-wing-conspiracy-theorist end of the spectrum, a move which was foreshadowed by her posting items by the dedicated lefty conspiracy theorist who blogs as “Washington” and has his own “Washington’s Blog” elsewhere. (He’s enough of a conspiracy theorist to post links to articles from whale.to and Alex Jones.)

And her blog has a bunch of posts critical of the Kochs, such as
nakedcapitalism.com

re: #3 jonhendry

Do you put Barry Ritholtz in the same category as well, since he also hosts ‘Washington’s Blog’ posts?
