We can’t find a place for you to live…
…but we can take your child from you.
Our society has really screwed up priorities.

I agree completely that it’s a travesty that we can’t find safe, appropriate housing for everyone, but I really have to question some of this woman’s choices:
She has chosen not to stay in shelters
She has declined offers of temporary places to stay because she says she does not want to be a burden on other families.
IMO, when you have a 15 month old child you’re responsible for, you suck it up and do whatever you need to in order to keep that child safe, no matter how much it tastes like shit in your mouth.

She is hoping that a book of prose, poetry and artwork she has created based on her life experiences will be published
In the meantime maybe get a job as a food server or checkout cashier?

Tough to do when you don’t have an address or phone number.
I’ll admit she may not have made wise choices but shelters are often horrid places to stay in. Bedbugs, abuse, drug abuse. I’ve stayed in them and they aren’t fun.
The couch surfing isn’t that good either. You’d be surprised how many ‘friends’ suddenly don’t know you when you need their support in really hard times. I lost all, and I mean all, my friends when my life fell apart twenty years ago.
Piled on top of that is the disdain that society places on the homeless, as was displayed here, and the shame the homeless person feels because of that disdain. It can paralyze a person.
I’ve done much better since I got a decent place to live. It took only fourteen years. // I’m sure she’ll do much better as well.
