Sodom and Gomorrah, if you actually read Scripture, were destroyed because of their Ayn Randian society, where the poor and helpless were oppressed, and wayfarers could be robbed and raped with impunity.

G-D destroyed these cities because of their mistreatment of the poor and homeless, not because of their sexual habits.

Dr. Lizardo also said that he was taught the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were pirates who regularly ambushed travelers and caravans.

So it look like Muslims understand this better than Christians.
