I can imagine how outraged Beckie Francis would be if an American Muslim superior of hers tried to convert her to Islam. Her sense of outrage would never end, yet, she thinks it’s perfectly okay to push Christianity onto one of her former players who is Muslim. I’m a Christian, but the one thing I never try to do is push my religious beliefs down others’ throats. I disagree with the fundamentalists who seem to think that they’re supposed to force their beliefs onto everyone else because, in the NT, Jesus states very clearly that if people don’t want to hear about Christianity, leave them alone.

When you’re brainwashed to believe people who aren’t in your particular supernatural club are bound for eternal suffering, you’re bound to do stupid things to get people to join your club.

Waiting for predictable right wing outrage about how a good Christian is being persecuted by the goverment simply for expressing her religious beliefs. After all, a True Christian® has a sacred duty to witness to the unsaved and convert them. Of course the gate doesn’t swing both ways, that would just be silly.

Who loves it when people try and push their religion on him.

So you commenters are saying that I, as an ordained minister, am ‘cramming my religion down your throats’ if I say anything about Jesus Christ being sent to us in the human form to take your sins personally upon himself when he died on the cross, went to hell for 3 days, and arose from the grave on the third day, as a token of God’s true love for all humanity? All we are doing is telling you about your opportunity for eternal life. If you want to follow God and live a peaceful life in God’s house for all eternity, then follow Him. If you want to reject his offer and follow Lucifer into the pit forever, that’s your choice. Follow Lucifer.
Let’s say that there is no heaven or hell. If you’re right, no big deal. You just die and that’s the end of it. But, what if you’re wrong? Do you want to take that chance?

So according to your logic, I should be out seeking Valhalla, crushing my enemies and earning honor in glorious combat?

I mean, I could be following Christianity, but if you’re wrong and I miss out on Valhalla, what then? Do I really want to take that chance?

“Lucifer” - how King James of you.

Do you realize that this idea of a “light bringer” is from Caananite mythology? It’s about a demi-god trying to challenge Baal. A variant of a story another demi-god challenging El. No one knows where that particular story originated, however it is just a play on a very common theme in these bronze age pantheism stories - lesser gods trying to challenge the higher gods.

Early Christianity stole more material from other cultures than Glee.

So what you’re saying is, that you not only don’t believe that there should be freedom of religion in free countries, but you even didn’t bother to read what happened.
Let me guess: you didn’t even write what you posted here.

As someone who tries to be a Christian, I would say that any church leadership that gave you a ministry would be engaging in active malfeasance and working against the teachings of the Lord. But then all fundamentalism is essentially anti-God.

As far as the angel called Lightgiver, are we talking the version in Job or the version invented by the stoner who wrote Revelations? About the only thing going for Revelations is that it was the least wacky of the multitude of very popular “apocalyptic” fantasies that were in circulation at the time and since the Nicaean council felt the need to bow to public sentiment we got stuck with that one about Nero.

See, that’s the kind of garbage that made me realize what a load of nonsense religion, and particularly Christianity, is. Kindly go fuck yourself.

Oh the Pascal wager.

Let’s say that there is no global warming. If you’re right, no big deal. Civilization won’t collapse. But what if you’re wrong? Do you want to take that chance?

You won’t answer because Stinky banned your ass.

Damn, I wasted a perfectly good “go fuck yourself” on that asswipe.

(That’s actually been the only time online I have ever, in all these years, told someone that.)
