Asked why some of his counterterrorism programs have continued under Obama, Bush suggested that Obama realized the gravity of security threats after becoming president.
“I think the president got into the Oval Office and realized the dangers to the United States,” Bush said on “This Week.” “He’s acted in a way that he thinks is necessary to protect the country. Protecting the country’s the most important job of the presidency.”

Remember during the 2nd Iraq War one of the justifications was the “Fly Paper” theory - that fighting in Iraq distracted the efforts of international terroists and lured them to fight and die there rather than attacking the US? Does anyone now seriously believe this?
Since it is inevitable that the NSA leaks will continue and that political allies like Wyden and Udall will continue to question the lack of effectiveness of Domestric Spying does anyone seriously doubt that, before too long, the rationalization for it will also loose credibility?
