Javier Sanchez, a senior legislative assistant to Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), has been arrested in connection with a string of thefts in the Rayburn House Office Building, Fox News has learned.
Sanchez, 37, of Virginia, was arrested on July 11 after U.S. Capitol Police began investigating thefts in the facility.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last Friday on a charge of second degree theft, which involves theft of less than $1,000.
Sanchez was released on personal recognizance. He next faces a misdemeanor hearing August 26.
Sanchez is one of Bachmann’s top aides and is often seen with her around the Capitol, including several times last week.
