He’s a very simple man, and actually believes his archaic beliefs have merit. Joke’s on him, but he’ll probably go to his grave without ever realizing that he’s totally full of crap.
This kind of person makes me wish there really was an afterlife and a god that would grant them the intelligence to see how foolish and awful they were in life.

Patriotic duty? There’s a new one right from the Taliban Handbook on fealty and subservience. Of course, he’s a man of “God”. Which one I wonder. He’d be marching with the Red Coats and singing at the bonfires in the thirties with an armband. He has more in common with the burning “brand” of fervor than he knows.
