McCain Calls for Review of Stand Your Ground Laws Around the Country — MSNBC
Republican Senator John McCain said Sunday that controversial Stand Your Ground legislation should be reviewed in the 30 states where the law is in effect.
McCain told CNN’s Candy Crowley that, while he “trusted” the jury’s decision in acquitting George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin, the “controversial legislation” needs to be looked at more carefully by the states.
“I can also see that the stand your ground law may be something that needs to be reviewed by the Florida Legislature or any other Legislature,” McCain said. “But to somehow condemn the verdict, you would have show me where the jury was corrupted.”
