If there is any money left from that check, Zimmerman would be wise to donate it to Habitat for Humanity or his local food bank.

If only Zimmerman had known earlier how profitable it is to kill, he might’ve become a mercenary or something. But I digress.

The $12,150.37 check that the group wrote to Zimmerman is the result of a fundraising effort that was launched because the group believes Zimmerman’s gun rights are being violated by the U.S. Department of Justice. The department has taken all the evidence from the trial, including the gun that killed Martin, as part of a civil rights investigation.

These “gun rights” groups are a small minority of nuts who think anything the government does about guns violates the 2nd amendment. They don’t represent most gun owners in America. Even the NRA ignores the majority opinion of its own members when publishing extremist insanity.

Which makes me wonder how they have that much money to throw away on a pet cause of the week? I figured they had already spent it all on stockpiling their zombie apocalypse bunkers.

If they just give him a little more, he could go down to LA and buy a 50 cal. machine gun. He and his brother could mount it in the back of a pickup truck and drive around like they do in Somalia and be the heroes of neighborhood watchmen everywhere.

Niether of the Zimmerman brothers strikes me as that kind of nihilist. George had (and almost certainly still has) a serious hostility to criminals that resulted in him taking the lead with his neighborhood watch. But what hasn’t shown, nor has his racist brother Robert, is the fetishization of firearms. Zimmerman viewed his gun as a tool meant to do a job, not as something with great symbolic import around which to center much of his life.
