Buttner again steered the discussion into conservative-talking-point territory by asking another conservative regular, Tracy Byrnes, “The job creators… are they the ones who are going to get hit the hardest by this?”

“What about the children job creators! Won’t somebody think of the children job creators!

The main flaws in Faux News’ pro-wage slavery arguments:

The largest private sector employers are making profit margins so large that it won’t hurt them at all to give more of it to their employees. The only way that would force these companies to cut jobs is through greed. Because to them, even slightly less profit is a loss.

Most mom & pop business already pay above the minimum wage because they know its the only way to maintain a large enough customer base to stay in business. So they won’t object to raising the minimum wage. It won’t hurt them. It can only help.

Besides, compensating for inflation is usually the point of raising the minimum wage. And we’ve had plenty of inflation during the last several years.

But to Faux News and other capitalism apologists, the above are all lies. They think necessity drives corporations to act as stingy as Mr Krabs. (and I can’t believe I’m making f***ing Spongebob reference) Greed has nothing to do with it.

By the way, why is it that anything that threatens maximum corporate profits gets label a “job killer”? Minimum wage, taxes, and regulations are all job killers to Faux News. Because employees are somehow not a vital component of a companies’ infrastructure. No, they’re just charity cases. Luxuries for CEOs to show-off to one another. The companies don’t need them, so they’re the first things to go if projected profits dip by a few pennies.

On second thought, that last part is realistic. But not in the way Faux News means it.

Most Americans are employed by large companies who can afford to pay their employees well above the minimum wage. Obviously you don’t want to increase the minimum wage too rapidly and induce inflation but never or hardly ever increasing the minimum wage is equally stupid. And as pointed out, mom and pop type places usually pay their employees well above minimum wage. The only places that really pay at a low level are bigger companies.
