Its a shame for the millions of people in red states who should’ve become eligible for medicaid but won’t. Because under the original scheme medicaid was supposed to cover them, they will actually be too poor to qualify for subsidies to purchase health insurance from their state exchanges. I would assume the healthcare lobby in those states will eventually wear down ideological resistance because of the financial hit they will be taking for having to cover indigents gratis, but it could take years.

The problem is that this sort of self-harm plays into really deep seated persecution fantasies the right holds, they really do believe they’ll be thrown to the lions (probably because at some level it’s what they would do the blahs/gays/jooz/liberals if given half a chance) and they’ll never accept that their choice to jump over the Colosseum walls into the arena doesn’t actually count as “persecution”, just “suicide”.

In a just and fair world the GOP would see blowback for inflicting pain upon their constituency but I doubt it will happen, the womb-like epistemic echo-chamber that rightists float in won’t let such self-awareness (or personal responsibility) penetrate.

It’s not a “divine wind” mission, it’s an act of desperation.

If — when — Obamacare is successful, it will invalidate decades of Wingnut talking points. All that crap about how government can’t do anything right, how everything Democrats do is socialism, what have you. It’s dead in the water.

You can’t argue with results. Obamacare will work, and no amount of GOP spin will be able to take them back to an era where their stupid “government so small it can be drowned in a bathtub” crap will resonate with a majority.

That’s why they have to try and make sure it doesn’t work, by defunding and sabotage. Their political careers depend on it.

I’ve just checked my California rates for an ACA policy that’s equivalent to my glorious “free market capitalism” policy under Blue Shield. My monthly rate drops over 40% from my “free market capitalism” rate of nearly $1100 per month.

Fuck you, Republicans. Cubed.

Yep, the GOP has made itself into the party of doom. Big mistake; I remember when the Democrats were the party of doom, and Reagan the optimist, and that didn’t work out too well for the Democrats. Obamacare will enable millions of Americans to get health insurance who can’t now. If the economic recovery strengthens, and there is good reason to think it will, what does the GOP have to run on in 2016? If Hillary is the nominee, they will be sputtering about Benghazi and ancient Clinton “scandals” from decades past that no-one cares about, and they will lose, big.

“Kamikaze” refers to a divine wind. I wonder if the Republicans are now hoping for a miracle brought on by Limbaugh’s flatulence.

Calling it a Kamikaze attack is outdated.

To put it in a more modern, and more accurate perspective, Republicans are engaging in jihadist suicide bombing attacks, since the vast majority of them are doing so in support of their rather bigoted version of Christianity.
