I, along with millions of Americans, are the successful products of public school systems. What this joker doesn’t like about public schools is most likely that are prohibited from incorporating Christianity into their lesson plans. I’ve always been one who has thought that you get out of something what you put into it. My parents drilled it into our brains that it was our responsibility to learn the material that was being taught—not the teacher’s responsibility. I taught high school for 33 years until I retired in 2009, and many of my former students are very successful. Some are doctors, nurses, members of the military, social workers, accountants, former NFL and NBA players, lawyers, physical therapists, college professors, teachers, etc. It’s always those who lack the courage to teach who are often the harshest critics of public schools and public school teachers.

I heard about this. I’m with you. Where the hell do they find these idiots to run their party? I guess it is Oregon though, home of R.P McMurphy.

I had to look up hormesis. One of the least nutty references I found was an article at discovermagazine.com
FROM THE DECEMBER 2002 ISSUE
Is Radiation Good For You?

Still, what Art Robinson is advocating is utterly insane. It’s as if he doesn’t understand entropy. Or informed consent. Or math. Or international trade.

Hey, let the market decide. If I’m wrong, you can sue me, ok?

I’ll ignore the slur on Oregon from someone who has apparently never been here, but this article should go a long way toward explaining why the Oregon GOP hasn’t been able to elect a statewide official for years, why the state GOP is moribund and broke, and why Oregon is a great place to live. Nutbags like this have been thoroughly marginalized here, and in a state that once elected actual sane Republicans to office.

It’s hardly just Oregon. They’re in nearly every state now, and usually nearer the top of the party hierarchy, not just wingnut outliers on the fringes. They are the Republican Party.

My first thought was ‘Oh no, not Art Robinson.’

He’s also the source of the infamous ‘32,000 scientists reject global warming’ bunkum.

Oh my glod, how stupid can they get?

“Moreover, people who have been cut off at the knees by public education are so mentally handicapped that they cannot be responsible …”

Irony - oh what a cruel jokester thou art.

So, the Oregon GOP loses statewide elections because of derp like this, while the Texas GOP wins them for the same reason. There is one difference: The nuclear hormesis proposal wouldn’t fly in Texas. This is not because Texas Republicans are more enlightened, far from it. It is because they are even more ignorant and backward: Anything having to do with radiation sounds “sciencey” to them and is therefore to be abhorred.
