Objectives of the greed classes (with the connivance of the religious right and a host of other frauds):
1. Destroy the safety net
2. Vilify, humiliate, and mock the poor
3. Reduce 98% of the population to poverty.

This does not seem like an optimum survival strategy to me. Perhaps their arrogance is so great they think they can pull it off. No doubt the smug French aristocrats thought the same before 1789.

I think the major problem of those who constantly disparage the poor is a lack of empathy. Because they’ve never had to deal with poverty, they can draw all kinds of inaccurate conclusions about people they don’t know. Don’t try telling them this isn’t the Christian way in a nation they swear was founded on “Christian principles” because they don’t want to hear it. They get some kind of perverse satisfaction from kicking others when they’re down and taking action to ensure that they stay locked into their “places” in this society. They will then turn around and tell the impoverished that they’re lazy, and that the solution to their problem is to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, never realizing that if one doesn’t have shoes, one doesn’t have bootstraps.

I’ve often thought of the French Revolution and its’ connection to what is happening in the U.S. at the present time. GOP politicians and their supporters have a poor grasp of history and seem to think that what happened at the end of the 18th Century in France couldn’t possibly happen here. I think it can. At this particular time, things just aren’t as dire as they were in 1789 when the Bastille was stormed, but I think we’re inching closer and closer to the people’s breaking point as time passes.

Just look at Greece where fascists have won seats in Parliament thanks to the Depression which has struck there.

I see a lot of this HATE TEH POORS crap on Twitter. They like to include as “Takers,” :

ALL government employees (including military, police, firefighters)—on the premise that “government” does not “create wealth” but govt employees spend their money just like “private sector employees” do.

YOONYUN members, even though, in order to belong to a YOONYUN, you have to, you know, HAVE A JOB.

EVERYONE ON ASSISTANCE, whom they assume, DO NOT AND NEVER HAVE WORKED even though Walmart and McDonald employees take assistance because they are paid so little, and elderly, children and disabled.

There also seems to be an article of faith that “FINANCIAL CONSULTANTS” deserve more and should be paid MOAR MONEYS than people in other professions, even though they provide less value to the economy than, say, auto workers and IT professionals.

FTFY.
