The Perot Foundation of Dallas, which was founded by the billionaire and former presidential candidate, announced this week that it would be donating $1 million to the beleaguered women’s health provider to help serve the women of Texas.

I’m glad to see that some nuts have redeeming characteristics, and that some billionaires remember that the less privileged are human beings too.

Many of my former so-called conservative students and moms have availed themselves of PP’s services, and they are hypocrites. They know they can get women’s healthcare services from the organization, but they’ll still vote for republican politicians who demonize it. The reason the teens used the organization’s services was because they were secretly sexually active (their parents, pastors, and friends didn’t know they were having sex) and didn’t want to become pregnant. It stands to reason that if they received health services from PP that they know that performing abortions isn’t the only thing the organization does, but due to pressure from their friends, family, pastors, and others, they are scared sh*tless of standing up for the organization and telling the truth about it.

While I’m happy to see PP in Texas get funding, it’s sad that it has to be from a philanthropist. This is way wingnuts think social programs should be funded, by individuals for charity.
You know, way back when the world was perfect and poor people got all their needs met by churches and local charity organizations.
