I happen to agree with him as far as some of the Republican policies have raped the middle class in America.

But Republicans can talk about rape all they want right?

Oh, that’s going to make College Republicans even more popular if that’s even possible. A snitch operation that spies on teachers?

These fuckers cut the higher education funding in my state and they still have the gall to set up shop in the state colleges. They couldn’t possibly care less about the quality of education if they tried.

This story popped up on MLive two days ago:

Michigan State investigates professor who tells students Republicans ‘raped this country’

and generated a lot of comments.

Then DailyCaller added their little twist yesterday:

Michigan State suspends prof who called GOP racists, rapists

and the commenters over their are demonstrating their well earned reputation for mouth breathing.

It’s a tough case because perhaps the professor was too aggressive to the student who happened to be sitting up front. No matter what subject matter is broached in a class, a professor ought to treat all students with the same amount of respect (assuming the students are behaving themselves.)

“if you go to the Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them.”

Absolutely 100% accurate. I was there.

I learned the same way this man did that Republicans are fine with freedom of speech, just as long ad they agree with what a person says.

If not it’s: STFU or pay dearly.

re: #4 freetoken

He could have used less inflammatory rhetoric but led his students to the same conclusion with facts. Encouraging a boisterous dialogue among the class of course.

I’m honestly confused to why a creative writing professor is talking politics anyhow. But Morton Blackwell is a scumbag, he’s the guy who produced the infamous John Kerry purple heart band-aids that were on display at the 2004 RNC.

Why are they upset? Everyone knows that if it is a legitimate rape, the country has a way of shutting the whole thing down. //

In all honesty, while I have no idea why politics was brought up in a writing class, I’m extremely annoyed with the idea that college kids need to be protected from strong opinions and the asses who hold said opinions. I think a college-age young adult can decide if they agree with the professor’s opinion or not. How can we expect kids to become functioning adults if we constantly treat high school and college kids like special snowflakes who need to be protected from the big, bad world?

re: #9 6monkeys

I totally agree. It seems that all the Morton Blackwells and David Horowitzs out there must think college kids are all empty-headed. Pisses me off when those guys go on and on about liberal “indoctrination” at colleges. I know students who have had a college professor shove Milton Friedman down their throats, but I’m sure that doesn’t count. And there’s enough college choice from bible colleges to business schools to Glenn Beck U if you want to avoid teh libruls.

I attended private Christian schools… I know what indoctrination really is. Horowitz and those guys — DARVO

That said, though, IMO this professor was out of line. Unprofessional and ranting. Not worthy of firing, though.

According to his academic bio page at MSU, he’s a full professor and a distinguished writer and teacher. Presumably he’s got tenure, so it might just be the case that he’s suspended with pay and could return next semester.
