My background is in the physical sciences, not the life sciences, so I not able to fully appreciate the scope and depth of the deliberate ignorance creationists bring to bear on the topic of evolution.

However, when someone asserts that evidence from physics/astronomy supports a young earth, a literal 6 day creation, or any other nonsense of that sort, I know for a fact that they are delusional or deliberately lying to marshal the rubes.

This particular clown is actually arguing that his biblical view is correct because it has no unanswered questions, while science has unanswered questions.

Hi David Rives, meet Father Georges Lemaître, who was the first to propose the ” primeval atom” aka “Big Bang” (although he didn’t call it that);
en.wikipedia.org

“Should a priest reject relativity because it contains no authoritative exposition on the doctrine of the Trinity? Once you realize that the Bible does not purport to be a textbook of science, the old controversy between religion and science vanishes … The doctrine of the Trinity is much more abstruse than anything in relativity or quantum mechanics; but, being necessary for salvation, the doctrine is stated in the Bible. If the theory of relativity had also been necessary for salvation, it would have been revealed to Saint Paul or to Moses … As a matter of fact neither Saint Paul nor Moses had the slightest idea of relativity.”

I guess Rives, Hovend, and the other creationists have never thought that it is they who contradict the Bible. They pick and choose the parts they like and ignore and violate the parts they don’t like.

Everyone who deals with bible picks and chooses which parts of the bible they take seriously.

Some pick the good parts to focus on, others get distracted.

Jesus H, really?

How about “Creationism ‘Bad Religion’ Because It Contradicts the Big Bang”? Now that’s a headline I could rally around!

Cool bio, Sheldon Cooper should begin quoting him.

He wouldn’t know good science if it vaccinated him in the butt.

Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Job 38:31

Soooo ” The seven daughters of Atlas (Maia, Electra, Celaeno, Taygeta, Merope, Alcyone, and Sterope), who were metamorphosed into stars” somehow wind their way into the Bible from Greek mythology but Galileo, Darwin and Bohr? Pffft.
