Gretchen Carlson asked Kersting if he “had a problem with the fact that the kids ultimately end up being punished in this situation when it really is the parents’ fault.”

Kersting explained, “Again, I think it is misleading that the kids are going to be punished. We have more food than any other nation. You know, no kid is going to starve. You know, if one day a kid doesn’t have lunch, right, maybe that’s a teaching moment when that kid doesn’t have lunch. That may sound harsh saying that, but we’ve got to get people to start being responsible for themselves.”

Despite all of the information which reveals that a hungry child has problems learning in school, this dumb ass thinks it’s OK to deprive a child of a measly school lunch if his/her paperwork hasn’t been completed/returned. He’d probably be one of the first to point the finger at these hungry kids’ teachers if they don’t make academic progress. Some Americans have got to begin making the connection between poverty and academic achievement if our kids are to ever reach their full academic potential.

In the 80s, we had “greed is good”, which was pretty much a success for the conservatives of the day.

Perhaps the next vice to be turned into a virtue by US conservatives is cruelty.
