When I was 16 I was hired to push carts out of the parking lot and into the store at the Wal-Mart in my hometown in Missouri.

I had to sit through an hour long video about the evils of labor union recruiters and the organizations that they represent.

The cynicism started to bloom in me after that. I started to realize what this country was becoming and how most of the people were going to be effected most by this change really couldn’t care less.

How is this different from churches that accept USDA forcing homeless people to sit through a Jesus lecture before distributing their bowls of gruel?

Wow. Sounds like the Cult of Ayn Rand has really gotten out of control here. When you’ve got unrealistic expectations combined with micro-management and a refusal to acknowledge reality, you’ve got a company that is in serious trouble.

It actually sounds like Wal-Mart might be ready to collapse entirely. They’re completely vulnerable to any business model that is better than theirs.

I refuse to shop there. Ever.

I have not stepped into a Walmart in over two years.

The last time I was in one, the produce was rotten and full of flies, the floors were filthy, there was not enough space between the aisles for two carts to pass without touching, and then suddenly THEY TURNED OFF ALL THE LIGHTS! It was just BZZT and the lights went out, but it wasn’t a power outage because the background music was still playing.

I said “what just happened?” and the associate said “Oh they turn off the lights here for fifteen minutes every day, you know, to save the planet.”

BULLSHIT. MOAR MONEYS to go into the pockets of the Waltons and the CEO overseer.

I walked out (left the loaded cart for the associates to pick up & put away) and never went back.

I’ve mentioned this before, but once upon a time I was curious enough to consider buying from Omaha Steaks.

I found out that their corporate headquarters is “10909 John Galt Boulevard.”

In the words of Roger Miller: “No thanks, Ohama, thanks a lot.”
