If Guth has tenure this could turn into a major battle. If he does not he’d better be polishing his CV.

“Its one thing to engage in thoughtful dialogue and speak against something but it is quite another to incite violence,” she added.

In what possible way can his comment be construed as inciting violence???

Aaand, according to KU spokespeople Guth has tenure. This one might turn ugly.

He should still prep his CV, but at least the whole rabidity will be public.

In a convoluted way they deem his wish of the violence done upon others due to their lobbying be visited upon them. I’ll bet if he was a wingnut, they would all be flocking to his defense and the corruption of his free speech. So the peace loving Nation Of NRA is demanding his scalp. Hypocrisy at it’s height.

Who does this guy think he is? Only conservative AM radio cranks are allowed to talk like this. /

No ‘might’ about it. This will be a circus. I’m sure it will be a net political win for the NRA et al., whether or not Guth keeps his job.

IOW, Guth’s tweet is an own goal if he is an advocate for sanity in US gun laws.

Exactly, the same wingnuts that moan about police chief Kessler’s 1st amendment rights being violated are the first to demand that this professor lose his job.

He’s an associate professor. That’s senior faculty.
