Ugh. Pollution, the shit sauce on top of the flood damage sundae :(

On another note:

nearby locals say an unknown amount of chemicals has leaked out and possibly contaminated waters, mixing fracking fluids and oil along with sewage, gasoline, and agriculture pesticides.

And no doubt the oil companies will deny responsibility for the additional damage saying the flood was an act of God. But since floods do happen, shouldn’t dangerous facilities and operations be required to safeguard against them and also be prepared to cover the expense of the cleanup and damage they contributed. If doing so would put them out of business, then the extraction by fracking is not even economic.
