Fall TV Update: Monday Night Tivo Casualty
Update
In the previous article I mentioned how “Dads” got dropped from our list, and now I’m back to report that “Sleepy Hollow” is also dropped. After two episodes the end of times biblical backdrop coupled with the glib anti government anti tax rhetoric became a bit too much to stomach. I predict it will become a hit with the tea party crowd and in red states where the most watched show is Duck Dynasty.
Monday
Bones 7:00 PM Fox 9/16
The Following 8:00 PM FOX early 2014
2 Broke Girls 8:00 PM CBS 9/23
Mom 8:30 PM CBS 9/23
Castle ABC 9:00 PM 09/23
Hostages CBS 9:00 PM 9/23 (Intelligence 9:00 PM 2/24/2014)
Blacklist NBC 9:00PM 9/23
Bones and Sleepy Hollow premiered this week with the rest of the Fox schedule so you are going to have to backtrack to Amazon or Apple, or cable on Demand to catch those premiers. You should also notice that both CBS and FOX are bookending two series with short seasons in the same time slot - so when Hostages stops on CBS, then Intelligence will start up.
Tuesday
UPDATE: searching alphabetically for Agents of Shield won’t find it, you need to look for “Marvel’s Agents of Shield”
NCIS 7:00 PM CBS 9/24
Marvel’s Agents of Shield 7:00 PM ABC 9/24
The Originals 7:00 PM CW 10/8 (*Timeslot premier, series premier is Thursday 10/3)
Brooklyn 99 7:30 PM FOX 9/17
NCIS LA 8:00 PM CBS 9/24
Supernatural 8:00 PM CW 10/8
Person of Interest 9:00 PM CBS 9/24
It’s noteworthy that CBS has decided to PWN Tuesday by moving their top 3 dramas to a block there, and that lineup is so strong that most other networks are refusing to play - running comedies and reality series instead.
The only dramatic competitors are both Genre titles, with Joss Whedon’s “Agents of Shield” and CW’s “The Originals”. I predict that both of these genre shows will do well even against the powerhouse block that CBS has running.
The audience demographics for AOS and NCIS are probably very different, and CW will be testing the waters of how many more Vampires the American public can take - so far it’s proved to be a limitless well.
*Please note that the first episode of “The Originals” will run right after the show it’s a prequel to, “The Vampire Diaries” on Thursday 10/3 so set that as a single recording if you Tivo. The following Tuesday on 10/8 is when you will set the series to record in it’s normal timeslot.
The Fox comedy “Dads” was originally on the Monday list, but after the first episode we scratched it due to the lame writing, over-amped laugh track, and race pandering jokes. I feel for Seth Green because the show’s only good moments came from him. A couple have now mentioned “Brooklyn 99” so I’ve added that to the list.
