The “Nuclear Sequestration” Option
A few wingnuts I know have been saying something… disturbing lately.
It boils down to the same thing — “Why do we even need to undo this Government shutdown? Why can’t we just let all these “non-essential” programs die and if they’re any good, we’ll bring them back later… maybe… someday… once we’ve paid off our entire national debt.”
These are the kind of wingnuts that don’t have original thoughts, so when they all started saying similar things, I got worried.
Then one of them shared this:
Obvious question no one is asking: Since the government shutdown only affects non-essential workers, why do we even have non-essential workers in the first place?
I have no doubt other similar sites, blogs, and talking heads are spouting off the same thing. I expect to see it on Fox News in the upcoming days or weeks.
I call it the Nuclear Sequestration option — Sequestration, taken to it’s horrific and absurd extreme — spending cuts all the way to $0.00 USD.
These Tea Party nutjobs are so insane, so out of touch, so sociopathic that they honestly believe this Government Shutdown is a good thing. That all these “non-essential” programs, such as national parks, school lunches, veterans benefits, what have you… can simply… go away. Instantly. Permanently.
They think they’ve found a way to pillage and burn the United States Government of everything they don’t like, and all it took is refusing to let a budget get passed.
That’s why I’m convinced this shutdown isn’t ending anytime soon.
I’m convinced the Debt Ceiling isn’t getting raised, and we’re going to default.
Because these Tea Party nutjobs have convinced themselves that the world loves them, that they’re doing the right thing, and that they’ll be vindicated by history, the second they can get the “lame stream media” and the “libtards” to piss off and die.
They think they have found a reset button for the past few centuries of progress in America; the epitome of the IGMFU — “I got mine, fuck you” sociopathic mentality that these so called “libertarians” have.
Unless Boehner cracks, don’t expect any of this to get resolved until 2014’s elections. Instead, expect to see the GOP triple down on voter suppression and gerrymandering, as they desperately try to protect themselves from the consequences of the Tea Party’s lack of political tact.
And if he does crack, we only get one reprieve, since he’ll be immediately replaced — by one of the Tea Party nuts, who will just repeat this in a few weeks when this budget goes under.
Because to the Tea Party, the destruction of all these social programs, of our national economy, of the United States of America as we know it isn’t a bug.
it’s a feature.
