Hello nightmares, it’s very good to see you.

This kind of thing probably explains how creatures like Medusa get into mythology.

You’re right, that hadn’t even occurred to me.

Hello nightmares, it’s very good to see you.

The bat totally looks like a gargoyle. Hell, they all look like something that might come slithering out of your subconscious when you’re home alone at 3:00 am watching a scary movie in the dark, and you suddenly hear a weird noise…

It was brilliant of the photographer to position them as if they were still alive.

Fact sometimes gives credence to fantasy.

I just wrote a review of a Rick Bass novel set in a lake near Odessa that has a saline content so high that it pretty much not only preserves animals and people who fall in, but does so in a way that preserves uncanny detail down to clothes the people were wearing when they died. Quite an interesting novel, the name of which escapes me (but it’s a 2013 release). If you like geology, especially of West Texas, and don’t mind the fact that there’s not a lot of dialogue, it’s an interesting read!

CuriousLurker,

I heard about this recently. Its really disturbing and creepy, yet it somehow manages to be rather cool at the same time. I feel bad for the poor animals though. Hopefully no human being will make the mistake of drinking from that lake anytime soon.
