I don’t claim him.

Schultz seems to ascribe to the “volume over facts” school of talk show hosting. That kind of disregard of the facts from ‘conservative’ talk show hosts is part of what gave us the shut down in the first place. Schultz being a part of it as well just makes things worse.

” 1 October, 171,000 of us were kicked off our health care”

They were “kicked off” their Tricare plan, but could sign up for other Tricare plans. They weren’t left without healthcare.

Starting Oct. 1, the Pentagon will eliminate TRICARE Prime for some 171,000 military retirees and their family members, forcing them instead to enroll in the more costly TRICARE Standard or Extra. Why? Because they reside 40 miles or more from an active military treatment facility or former military base. Defense officials say the move is because the other two TRICARE programs offer more provider flexibility and this allows them to eliminate the annual enrollment fee, among others benefits. The VFW views the change as a further lessening of earned benefits, especially since TRICARE Standard and Extra have more out-of-pocket expenses, which means DOD is making the change to save money, not to better serve military retirees

When this kind of behavior occurs on both sides of the political spectrum, it’s not surprising that many people think the country needs a new political party.

Never been a big fan of Schultz either. It’s easy to see with his very black and white way of approaching things why he used to be right wing.

Talk radio is toxic, on both sides. Other than rile people up and present incomplete/totally bogus information, it’s only other purpose is to cram as many commercials in per hour as possible.

Since I no longer listen, I’m curious about what the businesses who target really angry and uninformed people are selling.

Thanks for the information. In other words, Russell was spewing RWNJ talking points. If Ed was more level headed, he could have easily and eloquently destroyed the talking points. Opportunity lost.

I was not aware of this, but you’re right. If Ed was a bit more grounded, and stopped trying to out-Hannity Hannity, he would be a lot more listenable.

Yes there is a market for people who want to be screamed at, on both sides, but unfortunately, it does nothing but nurture ignorance.

I listen to Thom Hartmann quite a bit. He’s very, very well read and researched. Even when a RWNJ is screaming at him and insulting, Thom stays calm an universally provides a factually-based rebuttal. We need more like Thom. Remember, “Big Ed” is a former conservative talk show host…. enough said.

The Hannity comparison is apt. But I’ve always thought of Ed as sort of a Limbaugh facsimile on the left. He’s fat, he’s loud, and he doesn’t really know policy specifics well; and usually doesn’t like anything remotely resembling a true discussion on substantive matters. Which is why, partisan though she may be, I’ve always preferred commentators like Maddow: she’s more credible and can debate with civility. It’s almost like Schultz stole Limbaugh’s act and just reversed the ideology. Not that he does anything quite as repulsive as Rush’s naked race baiting and sexism.
