Corporations are defendants, my friends.

I think the “discovery” portion of the proceedings (if it gets that far) could be very interesting. This is something to keep an eye on , if only for the entertainment factor.

It’s just a press release and one written in an extremely hostile tone that leads me to doubt it has an credibility. Note that Steven Haas at no point in his press release details what the fraud against him was and he felt compelled “file the Complaint in an alternative venue” because a bankruptcy court judge failed to address issues that Haas claims to be ‘frauds’.

This thing stinks.

Yeah, it looks like complete bullshit but it gets the progressives excited so it doesn’t matter.

You gotta point there with the later. Granted, its not clear whether its legit or not. It could go either way for all we know at this point. But the headline did get me thinking, “hell yeah! Comeuppance for those corporate vultures!” I couldn’t help but think that.

Not because of the s*** politics Romney represents. No, its because Bain had bought-up and squeezed-to-death more than a few healthy american businesses and put alot of people out of work. All just to suck out some quick bucks and throw away the withered carcass.

If Bain were to be RICOed, I’d frigging celebrate. No disingenuous disclaimers. No crocodile tears. I would simply celebrate without shame.

1. Clicking through the link in the post, one finds:

Romney Sued for RICO in Fed Court
By Collateral Logistics, Inc.,
CEO Steven (“Laser”) Haas (laser.haas@yahoo.com)
October 18, 2013

Isn’t it unusual for a CEO to use a Yahoo email address? Isn’t a choice of words like “RICO Romney and his Gang” unusual for a CEO?

2. On the home page of the site where the foregoing link was posted:

The Goal of this Website now - is to assist Tom Petters get a new trial and see to it that the Racketeering evidence of Goldman Sachs, Bain Capital and Paul Traub’s duplicity in the Petters, Fingerhut, Polaroid (and eToys cases) are punished by a Racketeering indictment

I had never heard of Tom Petters and his desire for a new trial wrt his 50-year sentence for wire/mail fraud and money laundering.

3. Then, again, from my first link:

Plus Paul Traub is named (who confessed in 2005 that he was secretly Barry Gold’s partner). Mr. Traub was also partners with fraudster Marc Dreier and named by the Federal Receiver over Tom Petters Ponzi as “controller” thereof.

Why is this being posted on a site that wants a new trial for Petters? Because Petters supposedly hasn’t been punished enough, or the contrary? I don’t care; Tom Petters and Steven “Laser” Haas have already taken more of my time than they’re worth.

7 Absalom, Absalom, Obdicut  Sun, Oct 20, 2013 4:18:23pm

There is a metric shitton of unprosecuted white-collar crime in this country, including what is basically racketeering by financiers. But somehow I don’t think “Laser” is going to be the guy to break that wall down.

8 Gus  Sun, Oct 20, 2013 4:41:16pm

It’s interesting how some people will form conclusions before any alleged trial is completed. Obviously showing no respect for the law. Clearly Bain must be guilty, because. Just a note but the current CEO of eBay is a former Bain exec and big shot. Pierre Omidyar owns about 11 million shares of eBay. Given the CEO of eBay is a former Bain man Pierre should beg for forgiveness from the Twitter Gods and donate his remaining shares of eBay to charity.

9 Gus  Sun, Oct 20, 2013 4:41:39pm

Also. Romney lost. Move on.

Why don’t you tell us what does matter?

You’ve got nothing but a sentence here or there meant to piss others off. Congrats, you’re the new albusteve—-cranky, hostile and totally disinterested in any serious conversation.
