It makes me physically ill that this casino magnate is able to have his insane ideas taken at least somewhat seriously in both the United States and Israel.

A Crassus for our times.

I just don’t understand why the Iranians would think they would need nukes as a deterrent to attack in this world full of peaceful people.

The worst part? The applause that followed this:

“So, we mean business. You want to be wiped out? Go ahead and take a tough position and continue with your nuclear development.”

So when Iran said Israel should vanish, that was horrible & evil, but Adelson’s desire to threaten Iran with the same is laudable?

If he’s so damned gung-ho on the cowboy crap, why doesn’t he urge Israel to make the threat instead of the U.S.? (That was a rhetorical question.)

Then at 06:35, the condescension, as if he’s talking about disciplining animals:

Boteach(?): So a tremendous demonstration of American strength, so that they would get the message?

Adelson: The only thing they understand.

this is why we need people who have been successful in the private sector to be in charge of government

It is quite certain that there is not a single thoughtful leader in government, in the US or Israel, who will take seriously for a moment the suggestion to nuke Iran just to send a message. Mr. Adelson’s comments are damaging only to the cause of those who take seriously the threats posed by the Iranian regime’s dogged pursuit of nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them.

That would be a logical and reasonable question to ask if:

1. Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is borne of a desire to protect itself against threats that Israel had made, rather than, as is actually the case, to provide a shield behind which to solidify and expand influence of the Iranian regime in the Persian Gulf and MENA region genrally.

2. Sheldon Adelson had or was in danger of having a nuclear arsenal at his disposal at any time. Since he does not and will not, there is no logical basis to draw a connection between his asinine rambling and Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and related ballistic missile technology.
