The same folks who refused to extend the NFIP for months ignore the fact that flooding occurs, well, anywhere it can rain (or anywhere downstream from where it rains, water collects, etc., would naturally believe that they do things better than those damned coastal elites.

Oklahoma has a fraction of the population (3.85 million) of New York or California or Texas, and yet gets almost as many disaster declarations - complete with FEMA assistance, disaster relief, etc.,

No one blinks an eye when the calls go out for aid, assistance, or charity. But when NJ or NY gets hammered with a historic storm, they can’t quite grasp that more people were affected in New York City (+8m plus) than live in all of their own state, that the numbers are necessarily huge for a reason. Heck, more people use mass transit in NYC in a day than live in the Dakotas.

It’s where people live. It’s where the infrastructure is. And it takes a whole lot to get that fixed.

It’s one thing to complain about beach replenishment and whether the government should be strategically retreating from barrier islands rather than setting up for another round of disaster relief down the road. But that’s not what the argument is here - it’s just straight out claiming he wants his, screw everyone else.

Oh, and we relied on each other after the storm too. Helping giving out aid, giving access to generators and power to neighbors who didn’t have them. Helping them clear debris, and taking them in for shelter. And donating all kinds of time, effort, and money to rebuild. All that happened in the 91 days while this cretin and the rest of the House GOP blocked any action on Sandy relief bill (which became 3 bills because the GOP refused to act on them thinking that there was pork in them - a demonstrably false assertion).

And for that, he deserves all the scorn and derision we can muster.

And a Bronx Cheer!

But if we were *really* self-reliant, like those red-blooded red-staters, we’d have repaired our subways ourselves, with no help from the dastardly gubmint. If neighborhood residents would just gather round their local station, with bailing ladles…

I’d have so much more respect for these dolts if they would just scream n*****!!!!!n*****!!!!n*****!!!!!, instead of using this Frank Luntz doublespeak bullshit to indirectly be racists shitbags.

It’s that whole City People vs. Salt-of-the-Earth thing I’m sick and fucking tired of.

God loves Salt-of-the-Earth. God sends natural catastrophes to City People because they hate God. //

Except when God sends tornadoes and hurricanes and floods and brush fires to Salt-of-the-Earth, it must be because of gays.//
