Jefferson-Hamilton Debate
Earlier today I watched the video below and found it entertaining and informative, so I thought I’d share. I think it would be especially helpful to young people just learning about American government & politics.
As someone who had little interest in politics until a few years ago, I have to admit that the more I learn the more confused & annoyed I get. After reading a couple of additional articles, namely this one and this one, I quickly realized that:
- Our differing visions over how the nation should be run pretty much go back to Day One. *sigh*
- The current dysfunctional incarnation of the Republican party seems to be split into it's own Federalist & Anti-Federalist groups in the form of Establishment vs, Tea Party.
- If the above is true, then where in the hell does that leave the Dems (and everyone else) in the overall scheme of things??
- It's remarkable that we made it this far without falling apart at the seams (though I guess we sort of did during the Civil War).

Actors portraying Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson will perform a series of spirited and educational debates for more than 1,500 middle school students of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. The two Founding Fathers will exchange their differing views on the development of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, followed by an interactive Q&A session with the students.Steve Edenbo and Ian Rose, who play Jefferson and Hamilton respectively, are professional interpreters who have performed these roles at The Smithsonian, the National Archives in Washington, D.C., in schools across the country, and on a special episode of “People’s Court.”
