Christian Militia Group on Facebook Conspires to Kill President Obama (IMAGE)

Just when you think the right-wing Christian extremists can’t get any worse, they now are making death threats against President Obama - on Facebook. Everest W, the administrator of the Facebook group ‘Christian American Patriots Militia’ wrote a status on the page that begins with,

“We now have the authority to shoot Obama, i.e. to kill him.

The most disturbing aspect of this is, so far, over 460 people have shared the post. They must not know it’s a federal crime and a felony to make threats against the president. If they thought they were keeping it a secret, the word is out, and we can be sure there will be an investigation and some explaining to do.

This was covered the past couple of days by an assortment of watch dogs, including the SPLC:

The U.S. Secret Service is aware of a man with ties to a group called the Christian American Patriots Militia who is the apparent author of a Facebook post that says the antigovernment group has the “authority” to assassinate President Obama.

If you tiptoe back to their ‘ofthehighest.wordpress’ site, they’ve been at it for some weeks. Not a rich vein of comments there, and a strong German association (family-based?).

There also doesn’t seem to be much ‘militia’ about them. The leader/founder seems to be a US citizen teaching in Germany. No sign of the usual gun/uniform fetishes. One link shows up to 1400 Facebook ‘members’, but that’s still social media, not Saturday drills. Suspect many might be in other groups.

Still nibbling around their edges.

Fie bit of projection from that asshole: The person levying war against the United States is him, not Barack Obama. Saying the president should die because he does not agree with your policy preferences and because you don’t like his skin color makes you a would-be tin-pot dictator.

After the judge sentences that dirtbag to prison he should say “sic semper tyrannis, for in a cell is the only fitting place for a living tyrant to be.
