Obama’s Low-Key Thanksgiving Features Calls to Service Members and Nine Pies
The guest list remained private as of Thursday afternoon, suggesting the first family has opted for a low-key Thanksgiving celebration at home this year. (In years past, first families have often spent the holiday at Camp David, Md.)
Before digging into the spread, Obama took some time to speak with 10 American service members. He was careful not to play favorites with the services, dialing up two soldiers, two Marines, two sailors, two airmen and two members of the Coast Guard. A White House statement about the calls didn’t note whether any of the troops who spoke to the commander in chief were deployed.
