Are bird shots a natural to tweet and retweet or what?

You’ve gotta post a photo of what that monster lens looks like when attached to your camera. You probably have to use it with a tripod, right?

I did with these but it can be hand held. You need lots of light and strong hands. Rule of thumb-the focal length is your maximum exposure time. 1/600th of a second in my case. 400 mm x 1.6=640 since I have the smaller sensor. Not full frame. But here is the beast itself on the 7D

The lens not the camera mounts on the tripod.

Wow! O_O

I’m really glad you mentioned the focal length/shutter speed thing. I’ve been watching YouTube videos and reading up on things and had heard about it, but I totally overlooked the fact that I should take the crop sensor into account before making the calculation.

WTF? I didn’t count on having to do all this math! //

Yeah, too bad we live so far apart—I’d love to pick your brains.

I just finished renewing some domains for an old client and was going to (finally) sit down and email you. I’m gonna get a fresh cup of coffee and then I’ll get busy.

Very nice photos, hummingbirds are such a challenge. I love photography but have never been able to grasp the tech side of it. I just shoot copious amounts and hope for the best. I just shot about 125 pics at a hummingbird place and came out with 4-5 good ones.

Great light ans shimmer. The iridescence of the feathers is beautiful. Do you know what species that is?

Thanks. No idea as far as the name, not into birds other than as photo subjects. It was in Honduras, at a place called Rio Santiago. Not sure if it’s got a wide range or only in that area.
