If there’s anything less palatable than watching Duck Dynasty, it’s eating at Cracker Barrel.

Sadly, some members of my family adore Cracker Barrel and take me there at least once whenever I come back to the States for my annual visit.

Yee-haw!

I like their breakfast from time to time.

So does my mother. I’m not a big fan, but their breakfasts are good and they are priced well. There are no Cracker Barrels in Cook County, but if headed to Wisconsin my mother will normally have my father (and me if I’m with them) stop at one of the two locations along I-94 between Chicago and Milwaukee (Gurnee, IL and Kenosha, WI).

Translation; We’re sorry. We were unaware of the volume of dick heads who eat at our establishments. You win. Money after all, is money. Screw ethics and graciousness. We’re just as F’d up as all you losers are. Come on down!

I was in the Walgreens that is just diagonally cat-a-corner across the street from my condo this morning. They have a large selection of Duck dynasty t-shirts, hats, and headbands all of which left me wondering “who in the hell buys these things?”

I guess they are aiming for the grandma market who has no idea what to get their nephew, niece, or grandchild for Christmas. I suppose the reasoning is “well they may have heard of ‘Duck Dynasty’ and that it is ‘popular.’

So maybe if we catch someone out of ideas and at their wits end about what present to purchase for someone they might buy one of these ghastly things?”

After the number of anti-gay comments from co-workers I’ve heard over the last couple years, my own impression is that there are still a large number of American men who aren’t wingnuts but for whom Phil Robertson struck a chord. Men who still find gayness unsettling and unmasculine (I’m not part of this group), and who admire Robertson for saying out loud what they still feel.

You, just by being here. are more plugged into reality than a good percentage of John Q Public. “Oh, Billy likes them. He watches them on TV. Let me get him this blow up doll.” It’s ignorance. The DD and the A&E (and a few hundred other useless empty shows and channels) sell shit when they make money. If shit didn’t sell, it would be off the air in a NY minute. All that TP/GOP propaganda that you know is just a steaming pile of jingoistic hate? Well it’s all wrapped up in Stars and Stripes and Freedom and Liberty and God and Country and Camo and Guns and Big Trucks and, “God Hates (fill in the blank)”. A large network of liars who make a killing off of ignorance and hate are laughing all the way to the bank. I just got an email about Mooslims and Freedom and Phil The Patriot today from a “friend” who I emailed back and thanked for taking the time out of his busy life and finally after a year of no emails forward me a pile of steaming shit.
I see a TV program T shirt on someone, I know they parked in the handicapped zone.
It really does come down to shouting. MHO.
