Well to a good part of the Right Wing Religion equates money with wisdom. If you are rich, you must be smart. Intelligent. Somehow better than most. To be desired as a leader or counsel. And this blows that idea right out of the water. Somewhere, someone has this proudly on their wall as they furiously huff glue.

Is it just me, or does this smack of money laundering?

‘Cause I don’t for one minute believe anybody’s paying that much for the “art”.

The digital art Zimmerman stole to “paint” his masterpiece.

How the “art” was created. Note that no housepaint was used in the creation process.

Yet Ebay had no problem letting Zimmerman misrepresent his “art” and how he “created” it.

Zimmerman gets away with figurative “murder” again.

Ebay also makes a tidy 10% on everything, including the shipping. That’s 10 grand for that piece of “art”. I’ve sold on Ebay since 1998 and they have changed immensely. I think (I do not know) that the symbols in the pulled painting are a bit too much for them. They are shown world wide. For instance you cannot show a picture of a swastika on any WWII items. Georges “painting” has no other offences but being sold by a man who got away with murder.

I was curious about that and checked the fees for “work directly from the artist”. It looked like the Ebay fee was only $250.00.

PayPal - if that’s how he got paid - will take another 3%. Then, of course, there’s the Ebil Gubermint wanting its share, and now Poor George won’t qualify for a subsidy for his health insurance, which he wasn’t going to buy anyway.

Still, not a bad return for a total investment of around $25 on Zimmerman’s part.

Well now he can pay back his lawyers, right?

And fuck Ebay. I am done with them.

re: #5 Skip Intro

I can’t find “directly from artist”. You have a listing fee and a final value fee and a surcharge on your shipping and PP’s 3%. Got a link to that? I’m curious.

re: #5 Skip Intro

Oh, and guess who owns PayPal? They call themselves independent of one another but it’s pretty slick when you only allow your own method of payment So that 3% also goes to FeeBay.

re: #7 nines09

I can go try and find it again. As you may have noticed, Ebay makes nothing easy to find when it comes to fees, so it may take a while.

OK, try this: fees.ebay.com

For category, choose Art. Next, choose Direct from the Artist, then finally Painting.

Bingo! $250, which also appears to be the maximum final value fee for just about anything.

And given that bit of information, I suppose George has never heard of Shepard Fairey being sued for copyright infringement for basing his famous HOPE painting of Barack Obama on an AP photo.

I hope Shutterstock goes after him.

re: #9 Skip Intro

Oh they like to bury things. Thanks. The largest money amount I sold something for was 700 and I was charged just about 10%. You’re right about the $250 being the max. Put in musical instrument/guitar and 1000 for price and the fee is 100 bucks. Put in 5000 and it’s $250. I just learned something. He was not charged 10 K. Thanks for that. I feel better now because I was considering selling my 69 Les Paul Custom and really didn’t want to pony up 10% of that. So the formula is anything over 2500 is a flat $250 bucks. The policy about charging a surcharge on shipping can be contested, I got two credits. They want you to offer free shipping so it’s figured into FVF. Thanks again.

Some information on the source image here. Interesting speculation about the auction in the comments as well.

“Looks like Hoch Sollst Du Leben may not be a real person. His name in German means: High Thou Shalt Live.” A better translation would be “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”

So who got paid off at Ebay to allow kid-killer Zimmerman to sell his pirated art?

Ebay doesn’t care about things like that. Just wait until he puts the gun he used to kill Martin with up for sale. Ebay won’t take that, but I’m sure he’ll have no problem finding a site that will. A million dollars, minimum.
