Liz Cheney: ‘I Have Decided to Discontinue My Campaign’

Liz Cheney is ending her campaign for Senate in Wyoming, the Republican announced in a statement early Monday morning.

Citing health concerns in her family, Cheney said the issues arising prompted her to end her GOP primary challenge to Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.).

“Serious health issues have recently arisen in our family, and under the circumstances, I have decided to discontinue my campaign. My children and their futures were the motivation for our campaign and their health and well-being will always be my overriding priority,” Cheney said in the statement.

These days I’ll take any smidgeon of good news. (She had a campaign?)

Liz Cheney’s experience consists of mid-level jobs in the State Department: jobs that I bet she wouldn’t have gotten without being Daddy’s child. Yet somehow she felt entitled to represent a landlocked Western state in the Senate.

Speaking of Wyoming, I hadn’t known this:

Wyoming receives more federal tax dollars per capita in aid than any other state except Alaska. The federal aid per capita in Wyoming is more than double the U.S. average.[38] Unlike most other states, Wyoming does not levy an individual or corporate income tax…

I’d have preferred to keep her in the race, myself. The more GOP money spent on primaries the better. And that doesn’t even start to cover them kicking each other in the teeth at every opportunity.
