Corey’s actions are made worse by the fact that the Florida state legislature is about to change the law to decriminalize Ms. Alexander’s actions and retroactively void any convictions or pending charges for those who acted as she did in similar circumstances.

Given that the charges against Marissa Alexander are about to be voided, putting her in jail comes across as Judge Dredd-type legal dogmatism.

Unless of course Corey is trying to force Alexander to plead guilty to some other charge before the law is changed. Prosecutors have done things like that before. Such actions are actually sociopathis, in that they so a lack of concern about the fate of another person. But for some prosecutors, such ugly tactics are just tools to increase their conviction stats and thus further their careers. Such tactics are also a reason the legal profession is often regarded with hostility.
