The Social Cost of Bad Choices
Dr. Lustig is already pretty well known for pointing out the dangers of over-consumption of sugar, but in this recently posted video he mostly speaks about how difficult a problem this is to solve, and about how it is no longer a matter of freedom or personal responsibility; it’s a public health crisis and everyone is involved. This includes the corporations that are robbing us of good food choices and the government that is currently failing to protect us. The costs of treating chronic disease are responsible for the explosion of health care costs, and those costs will eventually break us.
Dr. Lustig assesses the health dangers of sugar and its link to Type-2 diabetes and the global obesity epidemic. He is the author of several books and many articles on childhood obesity, including the recent “Obesity Before Birth.”
