FemNazi,

Glad they gave him asylum. I hope he likes his new home. Its really sad that there are still places where the state will kill you for your beliefs, if they don’t like them, for whatever reason. The one thing that’s going to be hard on him, is that he’ll probably never see his old friends, or family again. However, returning could be a death sentence for him.

Hopefully Afghanistan and other countries like it will eventually become secular democracies.

Shameful that the US won’t recognize persecution due to atheism as grounds for asylum, especially when many of these oppressive countries, like Afghanistan, are client states. Kudos to the UK.

I wonder how long before the haters start screeching, “NOOOOOOOO, don’t believe it—it’s just another trick!! Taqiyyah!!11!

To my mind, this is one of the things that has to be shouted down and crushed with as much force as possible before we can really claim we are a civilized species. Such a petty, meaningless thing to judge someone upon.

I think Islamophobes like Spencer and Geller, will be more likely to come out and say that this just proves how inherently evil Islam is. I doubt that many of them, will claim that he’s a “secret Muslim.” After all, some famous Islamophobes claim to be ex Muslims. Some anti Muslim bigot will probably also say that this is an argument for banning Islam. Most likely they won’t even try to explain how its not hypocritical to ban a religion, in the name of religious freedom. They’ll also ignore the fact that not all Muslims support punishing people for rejecting the faith. In addition, they’ll ignore or even defend people like Bryan Fischer, who would turn America into a Christian Taliban if they were able to.

re: #5 CriticalDragon1177

Looks like we’re both right:

Results for uk atheist muslim asylum taqiyya, filtered to show only results from Jan 1, 2014 - Jan 15, 2014.

Note that the first link isn’t even to a hate site, it’s to a freaking digital photography forum. First to respond? A bigot. Apparently, they’re everywhere.

What’s the betting that it will open the floodgates as swarms of Muslims come here claiming that they’ve “rejected Islam” and fear for their lives back home.

Islam even permits Muslims to lie. It’s called Taqiyya.

Screenshot in case it disappears

IN my limited experience, many who choose atheism are survivors of Religious Abuse. They are actually making a rational and compassionate choice.
